Carriers that demonstrate an ongoing problem with safety
issues will be fined. If the problem persists, suspension of activities will be imminent.
Delinquent payment of assessed fines (within 90 days) will cause carriers to be considered non-compliant, resulting in the potential closure of their operations.
The FMCSA also has jurisdiction over Intra-state compliance with controlled substance and alcohol regulations and hazardous material operations. The state DOT has implemented a compliance review program based on the Federal requirements.
